Phil and I were saying our goodbyes after a pleasant ham sandwich lunch when he reached over and plucked a hair from my head. His eyes were wild and his smile resembled that of a clown that was waiting to squirt you in the face with water. He gleefully showed me how bright the silver strand of hair was. He held it against the black surface of his steering wheel for the sake of contrast. Indeed, it looked like someone had clipped a piece of fishing line and substituted it for my hair.
My guess is that he’s just happy to no longer be the only one he knows under 40 with a head full of silver hair.
